Fave Photographer of the Month Nov ’13

Dressing II by
Emanuele Ferrari

This month we delve into the realm of models once again. Captured in a raw, natural style encouraging vast character with each shot.

Ladies and gentlemen, this month’s fave photographer is Emanuele Ferrari.

Hailing from Milan, Italy, Emanuele spent his childhood among the Roman hills, juggling between his football passion and his creative desires. It was a matter of time before the latter became the profession. A high commitment to his craft saw him attend many seminars perfecting his technique and product. This has led him to be one of the goto photographers for the very popular project Nextdoor Model. His personal reputation, demand and popularity is growing rapidly, which is no surprise given the quality and addiction of his work.

The natural settings, soft colours, candid moments and, of course, the beautiful subjects, all combine to create a capture which, is not only intimate but, at times drool-worthy. A similar style to one of our previous fave photographers, Lucas Passmore.

Be sure to checkout all of Emanuele Ferrari‘s work and websites. Beware, you may get drawn in for hours.

Emanuele answered our three questions and, as usual the answers are thought provoking.

E, if you are ever in Stockholm … beers on me.

1. If you could shoot anyone or any place, who or where would you choose?

Every place and every person has a story to tell, in front of a goal. I like to photograph faces and places that still do not know, what that goal is. I love to explore the smiles of the first timers and tell the charm of seconds just through my shots. Having said that, my dream is to take photos of Alexis Ren in Los Angeles, a town with its cinematographic atmosphere of “The American Dream”.

2. We have a saying at 36Moments, “It’s not about the camera man, it’s about the Cameraman” … Do you agree?

I totally agree. The camera is just a means, it does not create added value in capturing images with an effective impact.

3. What preparation do you do before a shoot? Do you picture certain shots in your head beforehand or just go-with-the-flow?

Before a shoot I imagine how I would make the shots. I am looking for inspiration. Then once in front of the model I follow the flow, I follow my “free thoughts” and let myself be guided by instinct. I speak little, I never tell the model what to do, where to look, I like to take everything naturally. The shots that I never would have thought to do are always the best (although the best shot is always what I have still to do!)
