Juliette – Seeing the light in a Metro station

I was recently contacted by Juliette, a model from Kiev, saying she was in Stockholm for a while and wanted to do a photo shoot. There were about three days before she was leaving and at that time I was knee deep in work, but we were able to find a match late on a Monday when we both were free.

We met up about 6pm, and if you have ever been in Sweden during winter you will know that at this time there’s no trace of the sun, so the city is pitch dark, except from streetlights and smartphones…

My hope was to go down to the park in the middle of the city and try and get some kool shots with my flash. But just when we were getting started the rain just began to poor down. I do wanna get a shoot done in the rain soon but this night was too cold and I didn’t have time to prepare my stuff for that kind of weather.

To warm ourselves up, we went in to the Metro station “Kungsträdgården” and snapped a couple of profile photos. After we had walked around a bit, I just fell in love with the place. I have been in this station many times before, but had never explored it this much. The walls were filled with colors and had a raw/urban look to it, and everywhere there was lighting that was great fun to work with. Also, it’s a station placed in the middle of the city, not one of the main stations, but there were not that many people wandering about. We were there during rush-hour but we never really got disturbed by people getting in the way of the camera.

Its funny how things turn out just because of the circumstances. It didnt at all turn out as I expected, but this time i think luck was on my side, and special thanks to the lovely model Juliette who did a great job and was fun to work with.
