Each of his shots are mesmerising and whimsical. Just by looking at them for too long, you can find yourself becoming lost and immersed into the landscape.

Ladies and gentlemen, with great pleasure, this month’s fave photographer is … Eddie Lluisma.

There are so many things I love about his landscape photography I’m not sure where to start. Even though his pictures are breathtaking and visually mind blowing, you can almost feel his commitment and patience within yourself just by looking at his shots. How long did it take to climb up to that spot? How many hours, waiting for the sun to be in that perfect position? How many prayers were said for the clouds to part at the right moment? How much coffee was consumed to stay awake, for that first ray of light to appear over the horizon? All these question run through your mind with each of Eddie’s captures and you begin to appreciate his work even more.

Now, what about the actual photos? I mean, wow! Every time I see one of Eddie’s shots, the first words that go through my head are “Holy shit”. Then, after the initial wow-factor, the vibrant, rich colours begin to jump out almost fantastical in nature … are those colours even possible? Two seconds later, you begin to notice the intricate lines and curves, giving not only deep perspective but an historical story. A dried up river bed that was once deep and fast flowing, a heavily trodden path, years and years of mother nature crafting the world.

We got a chance to ask Eddie our three questions, and here’s what he had to say:

1. If you could shoot anyone or any place, who or where would you choose?

I’ve been wanting to go and shoot Patagonia, Mt Everest and Iceland. I really don’t have any specific place that I’m dying to go to right now but those three places I’ve mentioned are on my long term goal.

2. We have a saying at 36Moments, “It’s not about the camera man, it’s about the Cameraman” … Do you agree?

Totally agree, it’s all about the cameraman. I’ve seen people who shot with their iphones and got keepers. Also I’ve seen pros who use large formats and the images they captured really sucked.

3. What preparation do you do before a shoot? Do you picture certain shots in your head beforehand or just go-with-the-flow?

I do somewhat have a preparation. I do a lot of  research about the target place and I always check the weather. I think I’ve got 3 weather apps on my Iphone lol. I’m also a just go-with-the-flow kinda guy, I don’t envision my shots until I get to the place that I wanna shoot.

Eddie, thanks for sharing your insights and wonderful moments in time. Maybe one day I can join you on an expedition, to see how it’s done. Love your work buddy.
